A Recycling Road Trip is taking to the streets to encourage Sheffield residents to change the way they handle waste.

Local waste management group Veolia and Sheffield Council have joined forces in the campaign to get people across the city to ‘wise up to waste’.

Veolia‘s Waste Awareness Team will begin the Recycling Road Trip this Sunday at Lowedges Festival in Green Hill Park.

Alongside hints and tips there will also be family-friendly activities on offer, including the ‘Recycling Lucky Dip’ and ‘Let’s Recycle’ sorting game. Compost bins, seeds and goodie bags are some of the prizes up for grabs.

Coun Jack Scott, cabinet member for environment, recycling and streetscene, said: “Already people in Sheffield are recycling more than ever before.

“At our summer recycling events people can learn even more about being ‘waste wise’ over the summer, when more waste is created from barbecues, summer gatherings or simply from being at home more.

“I am encouraging more and more people to recycle at home or use a local recycling site over the summer months”.
