POLICE closed a stretch of road between Bannerdale Road and Ecclesall Road at Barnner Cross after two OAPs were struck by a car.
The incident happened on Bannerdale Road at 10.30am yesterday.
Two casualties were taken to the Northern General Hospital.
A police spokeswoman said: “The incident involved one vehicle and two elderly pedestrians and occurred at around 10.30am.”
Eye witnesses reported seeing a Ford Focus with a shattered windscreen being taken away from the scene.
The South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman added: “The two elderly people were both taken to hospital for treatment.
“There will be ongoing inquiries into this incident.”
