REWARDS are being offered for people who leave their car at home and use more environmentally-friendly methods of commuting.
A trial scheme is being launched around Ecclesall Road this week, where people can earn ‘Carbon Quids’ for walking, cycling, taking the bus or car sharing.
Businesses where people can redeem their Carbon Quids include Endcliffe Park Café, Little Gems, Beauty Care Salon, Flora, Cuts of Class, and Rhyme and Reason. Offers include 20 per cent off services at 284 hair, 10 per cent off jewellery at Adorn, free drinks with food purchases at Endcliffe Park Café, and a buy one get one free deal at Pizza Hut.
Christine Parker, owner of Cuts of Class, said: “We are very keen to be involved. It’s a great idea and we are more than happy to provide the offers to local people, particularly as it contributes to helping the environment.”
People can sign up at www.carbonquids.info to record their journeys and start collecting points. They will then receive a reward card.
