DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a Barnsley teenager who died after suffering burns at a party say they have spoken to everyone who was there.
Steven Simpson, aged 18, died after suffering ‘significant burns’ at the party in Pleasant View, Cudworth, Barnsley, on Saturday.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said detectives were keeping an ‘open mind’ about the motive for the attack and enquiries were on going.
He said: “All those that were at the party have now been spoken to.
“As this is a live investigation it is not appropriate for South Yorkshire Police to comment any further at this time.”
Results from a post-mortem examination on Monday are not expected for another two weeks.
The Barnsley College student was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.
Six people, five males and a female aged from 16 to 39, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released on bail.
The 16-year-old girl was released due to insufficient evidence.
Steven leaves behind his parents Kevin and Bernadette and his stepmother Jackie.
