You’re never too old for an adventure – as pals Tony Cosens and Chris Jones are about to prove.

The pair, who live in Ecclesall and Dore, have a combined age of more than 120 but are gearing up for the challenge of the St Luke’s Hospice Triple Whammy.

Three activities are on offer in the Triple Whammy, which team members must complete in a single day on the Abyss at the Magna centre in Rotherham.

The Zip Wire is a 250ft long ride from a height of 70ft, while the Free Abseil sees participants climbing 150ft and then descending from a purpose-built platform.

Finally, the Powerfan involves a steep plunge, with just the force of a strong fan ensuring a soft landing.

Tony, a member of Vulcan Rotary club along with Chris, said: “We do lots of things for good causes. I’m 69 and Chris is only recently retired but we still want to be able to enjoy an adventure.

“We aim to raise at least £400 and we’re well on the way, but we need all the help we can get. This is a great charity and one that we’re proud to be able to support.”
