BUNDLES of brilliant books are being enjoyed by youngsters at two Sheffield schools, thanks to sponsorship from a city restaurant.

Pupils at Intake and Norfolk primary schools received the gifts from Sketch, the mascot from Frankie & Benny’s restaurant at Valley Centertainment, Attercliffe.

The New York/Italian eaterie chain has purchased more than 300 books for primary schools across South Yorkshire and parts of Derbyshire.

They are all part of the youngsters’ curriculum studies and include a varied mix of both factual and fictional titles.

Chesterfield-based Gemma Books has supported the programme by advising on the selection of titles and distributing them to the schools.

Fiona Gooch, Frankie & Benny’s spokeswoman, said: “As a responsible business we look beyond being a restaurant and actively seek to play a positive part in the communities we serve.

“Education has always been important to Frankie & Benny’s.

“Our restaurants regularly host pizza-making workshops for pupils – and therefore we feel that supporting local schools in this way is a logical step to take.”
