Response times are not always attainable

Have your say

Recently you asked for readers’ views about Fire Brigade response times to call-outs.

In view of the fact that the powers-that-be are trying to cut back on the number of stations and also toying with the idea of making other cutbacks, to be given a specific response time is surely not always attainable.

The longer victims of house fires or road accidents and so on are kept waiting the more people’s lives will be in danger as a result.

On TV recently a lady in a house fire, in her panic rang the fire brigade and absent-mindedly gave them the old address, so they headed in the wrong direction.

I do not know how many tons a fire engine weighs but surely they can’t be expected to have the speed of jet plane, when they are on a call-out.
