Chesterfield residents are being urged not to fall into arrears with Council Tax and rent payments in the run up to Christmas.
Council chiefs are warning that missing a payment can lead to unmanageable debts and result in recovery action and a referral to court.
Councillor Sharon Blank, Chesterfield Borough Council’s executive member for customers and communities, said: “We understand that with Christmas coming up, it’s easy to fall behind with your bill payments, especially Council Tax and rent.
“The trouble is, a small debt can become unmanageable and it becomes more difficult to catch up.
“I’d urge anyone at risk of falling behind with their payments to contact us and we will do our best to help.”
