Residents have say on streets

Have your say

RESIDENTS have become the first in Sheffield to be directly consulted on the uses of their streets.

People living in the Rise S12 development in Hackenthorpe can have a greater say on what activities – from ball games to fairs – as well as traffic speeds apply to roads in the area.

The development has a new use order which means residents are consulted on the types of street use they are comfortable with.

Heather Garner, assistant project manager for developer Home Group, said: “Parents need to know their children can play safely near their homes and these new powers will give them a greater say in what happens in the area.”

Rise S12 has also won a police Secured by Design award for its anti-crime design with security features.
