A resident warned about using his back yard as a ‘tipping point’ for rubbish later allowed items to be dumped in the street, a court heard.

Marek Bogdan, of Selborne Street, Eastwood, Rotherham, has been fined £100 and ordered to pay £70 costs after pleading guilty to environmental offences.

Rotherham Magistrates’ Court heard the 39-year-old dumped parts of an armchair and a fridge freezer in three different residential street locations in Eastwood.

He had been legally warned by an officer of Rotherham Council’s Community Protection Unit for using his rear yard as a tipping point for the rubbish, but the same officer later recognised the same items fly-tipped on the street.

Bogdan claimed he had ‘paid two guys £20 to remove the rubbish’ but could not provide details of their identity.

Rotherham Council has pledged to continue to prosecute fly-tippers.
