A householder has been prosecuted after leaving dog excrement ‘covering’ her back yard.

Stephanie Woodward was found guilty of allowing her dog to repeatedly foul the rear yard of her home on Nelson Road, Maltby, Rotherham.

The court heard that, in April this year, officers from Rotherham Council’s community protection unit were called to clear a large amount of dog faeces covering the rear yard of the property.

It was the third time the yard had to be cleared, and was a breach of an Abatement Notice which had been served on Woodward in October 2012.

Woodward failed to appear for the hearing at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court.

She was fined £400 in her absence and ordered to pay £442.17 costs, plus a £40 victim surcharge.

A Rotherham Council spokeswoman said: “Robust enforcement action will be used to deal with those who fail to take their responsibilities seriously.”
