MOUNTAIN Rescue volunteers have received a £3,000 donation from Rotary Club members in the Peak District.
Hope Valley Rotarians invited representatives of Edale Mountain Rescue along to their meeting to receive the cheque and give a demonstration of their work - which had a surprise in store for rotary district governor Peter Moralee.
A club spokesman said: “Edale Mountain Rescue’s Neil Chapman described how his team would stretcher an injured person to safety. Neil suggested that Peter would make an ideal rescue candidate for a demonstration and his team proceeded to strap Peter into a stretcher and zip him into a sleeping bag.”
After Peter had been released, the mountain rescue volunteers were presented with their cheque.
