A WOMAN was helped by mountain rescue team volunteers after she slipped and suffered a suspected fractured ankle while walking near Castleton.
The 48-year-old, from London, was walking along a steep grassy hillside above Speedwell Cavern when she slipped on Bank Holiday Monday.
She was treated by a paramedic before members of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team carried her down the hillside on a stretcher.
The holidaymaker went to hospital for treatment.
Neil Carruthers, Leader of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, said “We believe the couple were on holiday in the area, enjoying the wonderful weather.
“However, the lady was not wearing boots and she slipped on the limestone and grassy surface, sustaining a nasty injury.”
