A THREATENED Sheffield bus service is to continue after the route was taken over by a different operator.
For 25 years, the 293 has linked the west side of Dronfield with Sheffield via Bradway and Abbeydale Road. But current provider TM Travel is withdrawing its service next month. Stagecoach will take over, running hourly, with extra peak-time journeys, from May 9.
Other changes by Stagecoach from May 7 include outbound journeys on the X17 from Sheffield using Arundel Gate instead of Paternoster Row, while the 25 will operate between Chesterfield and New Whittington only. Holymoorside to Chesterfield will be linked half-hourly by the 50/50A - replacing the 99. An extra morning journey will run on the 82, between Chesterfield and its hospital.
