MORE than 50 relatives of soldiers serving in Afghanistan were invited to Renishaw Hall to find out what their loved ones have been up to in the war zone.

The event was hosted at the venue for Light Dragoons soldiers’ families by owner Alexandra Sitwell and her husband Rick Hayward because the hall’s vineyard manager, Kieron Atkinson, is a former captain in the regiment.

Representatives from the Light Dragoons, which recruits heavily from South Yorkshire, gave relatives an update on the soldiers’ activities in Helmand, where they are undertaking surveillance and mounting raids on Taliban compounds.
