Tributes have been paid to a popular dad who died on the way to work.
Jason Blount, 47, lost his life when his Ford Fiesta was in collision with an Audi on Main Road, Renishaw, at about 5.40am on Tuesday.
Both drivers were taken to Sheffield Northern General Hospital where Mr Blount, of Renishaw, was sadly pronounced dead.
Flowers and written tributes have been left at the scene of the crash.
One of them reads: “Thank you for being the best dad to our beautiful daughter. RIP Jason.”
Another reads: “Jason, my big brother, my hero. You will be truly missed. You were as strong as a rock yet so caring and kind. I love you so much.”
Mr Blount had worked as a machine operator at Sheffield-based company Betafence since 1991.
Jonathan Young, HR manager at Betafence, said: “We’re all very shocked and saddened by what has happened.
“Jason was a popular and hard-working member of the team – you could always rely on him to do a good job.
“He’ll be sadly miss and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this very sad time.”
On our Facebook page, residents told of their shock at the tragedy and sent their condolences to Mr Blount’s friends and family.
The Audi driver was taken to hospital with leg injuries.
Officers closed the busy road for about six hours to carry out investigations.
