Vin Malone’s piece about the loss of a heritage wall in the area of St Mary’s Church rings a chord.

Some time ago we had a section of wall here in Malin Bridge partially capped with grindstones, which were donkey’s years old.

These stones had been replaced having been demolished when a water pipe was fractured – subsequently they have been replaced with a different wall – not so much an eyesore as Vin describes but not welcomed by a few locals.

Perhaps our crozzle capped walls need some protection – as a reminder of our industrial past?
