A BEREAVED grandad and friends from his local pub raised £1,600 for Meningitis UK after he lost his grandson to the disease.
Callum Charlie Towne, of Fleetwood, son of Emma McElhinney and Mike Towne, was born on December 11 last year but died when he was just seven weeks old.
John McElhinney, aged 53, from Darton, was so moved by the tragedy he and his friends at the Rose and Crown on Barnsley Road organised a music festival.
M-Fest was hosted by Landlord Mick Taylor and pub manager Gemma Howard and raised £1,600.
John said: “Everyone had fun, there were many smiles and we are delighted with the amount raised in memory of Callum. A massive thank you to Mick and his team - they put on a fantastic fundraiser.”
