Shoppers got into the festive spirit thanks to a flying visit from Santa’s reindeer who stopped off in Doncaster Marketplace as part of a two-day Christmas cracker.
Crowds flocked to see the cute reindeer who were visiting Doncaster during a series of festive-themed events over the weekend.
The reindeer were making the most of a bit of down time before helping Santa to deliver presents all over the world.
The bustling town centre markets were filled with festive cheer as shoppers also enjoyed live music and free entertainment across the weekend.
Carols played by the Doncaster Danum Scout Band opened the proceedings on the stage outside the Corn Exchange.
Meanwhile lots of Santas led a great reindeer parade right around the markets.
Father Christmas also delighted children as he stopped off at the marketplace.
And Town Crier Henry Cryer lived up to his name by belting out his festive Christmas proclamation to shoppers.
As well as entertainment and fun for all the family, shoppers had the chance to tick a few more gifts off their list thanks to a range of stalls selling everything from Christmas cakes to handmade craft items.
Ros Jones, Mayor of Doncaster, said: “Doncaster’s markets have everything you need for Christmas from meat and fish to fruit and vegetables, gifts, cards and wrapping paper.
“I would urge everyone to buy local this Christmas and support local traders. With both Doncaster and Mexborough markets benefiting from investment and improvements in 2014, this is an exciting time for shoppers across the borough.”
To ensure shoppers made the most of the festive-themed weekend, free parking was on offer at Chappell Drive car park.
The car park will be free to park for up to five hours until Tuesday, December 24, between the hours of 8am and 6pm.
There is also free parking across the town centre every Sunday.
Ros Jones, Mayor of Doncaster, said: “I am urging people across the borough to support local businesses this Christmas and hope they will take advantage of this free parking offer.
“There are so many reasons to shop in Doncaster, from our award-winning markets to the modern Frenchgate centre and bustling high street.
“As well as the shops there are some great town centre events over the festive season to keep the whole family entertained.”
Doncaster Market will be open every day from now until Christmas.
