A RED-FACED official has been forced to apologise to Sheffield Council members after sending an email wrongly telling them 40 community recycling banks would be axed.
Neil Townrow, council waste management officer, sent out a list of ‘sites identified as poor performing which we are proposing to remove’. He included a list of the threatened sites.
However, within an hour, Mr Townrow sent another email apologising for the first, which was ‘sent in error’. He said the council would wait to assess the impact of fortnightly bin collections on the usage of recycling sites.
