Recycling sites are here to stay

SHEFFIELD Council says it has no plans to follow a North Derbyshire council’s decision to axe recycling banks in car parks.

North East Derbyshire District Council is removing the banks after an 80 per cent decline in their use when improved kerbside recycling collections were introduced.

The district council said the recycling banks were ‘no longer value for money’.

A Sheffield Council spokeswoman said that, although recycling rates in the city have increased by 22 per cent since fortnightly bin collections were introduced, car park recycling banks will remain.
