A recovery vehcile removes a mobility scooter from Cleveland Street.

THEY are normally used to recover broken down cars and stranded motorists, but this photo captures the moment when a mobility scooter was loaded onto the back of a breakdown truck in Doncaster town centre.

The blue scooter was spotted being loaded onto a truck outside the Colonnades Shopping Centre in Cleveland Street by an amused shopper who took a photograph.

The photo has already begun to be shared on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter under the heading “only in Doncaster.”

The recovery truck is believed to belong to vehicle recovery firm Fred Camm while nothing is known about the owner of the scooter or how it came to be on the back of the pick-up lorry.
