A CELEBRATION is being planned this week to mark the efforts of a Sheffield community worker.

Janet Brown, is retiring from full-time work helping elderly people in Broomhall and Broomhill, after 13 years.

The party is taking place at The Beacon, Broomhill Methodist Church, between 5.30pm and 7pm on Friday, with residents, church representatives and Paul Blomfield, Labour MP for Sheffield Central, attending.

Janet, employed by Churches Together, has twice been awarded a Community Star for the contribution she has made to the wellbeing of older people in Sheffield.

A churches together spokeswoman said: “Hundreds of elderly people in Broomhill and Broomhall over the years have counted Janet a friend.”
