Recession hits animal charity
AN ANIMAL charity in Barnsley is feeling the pinch after suffering a 75 per cent reduction in donations as a result of the recession.
Barnsley Animal Rescue, which runs shops to raise cash for kennel and veterinary fees, claims people are hanging on to their household items for longer instead of donating them to charity.
It has issued a furniture SOS in a bid to boost the number of items its shops in Hoyland, Hoyland Common, Wombwell and Goldthorpe can offer customers.
A free collection service is available in the Barnsley and Dearne Valley areas. Call 0845 203020.
