RAPIST DAD: Victims afraid of losing kids

ONE of the ways the rapist stopped his children alerting the police or social services was by telling them they would have their own children taken away from them.

He kicked and punched his younger daughter for meeting the son of one of her neighbours in 1998.

He attacked his eldest daughter, holding a knife to her throat, and told her: "It's never going to end. You have to do what you are told."

The women called ChildLine and asked for a guarantee that they could keep their children. When no guarantee was offered they ended the call.

The Star Says: Horror beyond comprehension

An NSPCC spokeswoman said: "All calls to the ChildLine service are confidential, so the NSPCC cannot comment specifically on this case.

"Sexual abuse is a traumatic experience for children that can have damaging effects which last into adulthood.

"Children often struggle to talk about the abuse they have experienced and it can be especially difficult for them to speak out when their abuser is someone in a position of trust. They may also face pressure from the abuser not to tell anyone.

"It is a huge step for any child in this position to pick up the phone and call ChildLine. A vital part of the counsellor's role is to build a relationship of trust with that child and to encourage them to keep talking. This may be over a period of time.

"It is important that the child knows exactly what this process involves and understands their part in the process.

"It is therefore critical that we do not make any false reassurances to young people about what may happen."
