Rail station OAP mugged

AN ELDERLY woman hurt her shoulder fighting off a mugger who tried to snatch her bag at Sheffield railway station.

British Transport Police said the man attempted to snatch the 80-year-old woman’s bag as she got off a train.

Det Con Lee Parsons said: “At first the lady believed the man was boarding the train.

“But she soon realised he was trying to pull her handbag from her shoulder.

“The woman refused to let go of her bag, the man let go, and he ran from the scene.”

The crime happened at 9.30am on Friday March 25.
