SHEFFIELD University students are throwing themselves into fundraising as RAG Week returns to city streets.
The event is a chance for every member of the university’s students’ union to get involved with a packed calendar of activities, aiming to raise as much money as possible for local charities.
This year’s Rag Week runs until Sunday and includes fancy dress collections in the city centre, a University Challenge-style competition, a 24-hour musical in the Octagon Centre, a dating contest among members of University Sports Clubs and face painting in union pub Bar One.
“We think we have a line-up of events that should guarantee a great week of fundraising,” said RAG chair Emma Harrabin.
“There’s so much happening and the really great thing is all the money will be going to charities in the city.
“RAG Week is one of the university’s great traditions and an excellent way for our members to give something back to the community.”
