A CHARITY in Sheffield is giving a lucky member of the public the chance to turn on the festive lights at a city sports centre.
St Luke’s Hospice is once again holding its annual Festival of Light – and this year, the event is taking in more Sheffield locations than ever.
The hospice has teamed up with Sheffield International Venues, which is hosting a special fundraising evening at Ponds Forge sports centre on November 30.
Raffle tickets are going on sale on the day, with one of the prizes being the opportunity to switch on an illuminated Christmas tree in the central foyer.
The winner will be announced minutes before they are invited to the stage to push the button at 6.45pm.
Celebrations start at 4pm, featuring mince pies, mulled wine and performances from local choirs. Other raffle prizes include an underwater camera and mp3 player.
An orchestral concert is also taking place at City Hall on December 8, along with skating at iceSheffield on December 1, and Santa’s Breakfast at Hillsborough Leisure Centre on Christmas Eve.
