RAF Ryan takes flight
SOUTH Yorkshireman Ryan Ellis is flying high after completing his training at the RAF's Central Air Traffic Control School.
The 25-year-old former pupil of Notre Dame High School, whose parents live in Barnsley and Sheffield, has qualified as a flight operations assistant.
He completed a 10 week course at the school, which trains air traffic control officers for the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force and is located at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire.
His training involved classes in meteorology, flight planning and communications, as well as an opportunity to demonstrate his skills in practical sessions.
At his graduation ceremony, Ryan was presented with a certificate of competency by Wing Commander Al Povey, watched by his wife, Natalie and son, Logan.
Ryan, who is a keen football player, most recently served at RAF Halton near Aylesbury, and will now be posted to RAF Cranwell near Lincoln, the home of the RAF KingAir training fleet.
