MORE people than ever will raise money for Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital when they take to the streets for the Great Yorkshire Run this year.
The 10km race on Sunday, October 9, will include one set of runners - ‘Team TCHC’ - who each have their own special reasons for supporting the hospital. Clinical nurse specialist Jonathan Pagdin has worked there for almost 30 years and is running to raise money for the paediatric limb reconstruction service.
“I’ve completed three half marathons before, but that was in my early forties - I’m now 52!” he laughed.
First time runner Meriel MacGabhan from Heeley is raising money for the charity following the birth of her daughter, Morwenna, last year.
Meriel, 37, said: “We felt really fortunate when Mo was born healthy, but we were aware not all babies are, so I just wanted to help.”
And Sheffield firm Linear Recruitment is celebrating 10 years in business with a £10,000 fundraising target.
Industrial director Rhian Balshaw said: “We’re collecting sponsorship but we’re also donating £1 for every time sheet we processed until September.”
