Racial body to wind up

Have your say

SHEFFIELD Racial Equality Council has gone into voluntary liquidation after closing last year following the withdrawal of a Sheffield Council contract.

The organisation, based on Harleston Street, Burngreave, will now be wound up.

It follows an extraordinary general meeting of SREC, at which Andrew Wood and John Russell of the P&A Partnership were appointed joint liquidators.

SREC provided advice for residents suffering discrimination, but Sheffield Council allocated funding to other providers because it feel SREC was not providing value for money.
