Race bosses have confirmed the Great Yorkshire Run will return to Sheffield next year.

Organisers said the event will bring a ‘festival of running’ to the city centre, with live music from popular Sheffield bands to accompany the 10km race on Sunday, September 28.

Now in its eighth year, the 10k will return along with the Junior and Mini Great Yorkshire Runs, which see potential sport stars aged three to fifteen compete over 1.5km and 2.5km courses.

John Mayock, event director, said: “This year we staged the most successful Bupa Great Yorkshire Run to date, with thousands of runners participating in our three events.

“We even had a Hollywood star on the start line, with Harry Potter actor Matthew Lewis joining us.

“The Run has grown into more than just a running event – it’s a festival of sport and music in Sheffield.”

The event will also see the return of the War of the Roses running battle, with athletes from Yorkshire and Lancashire going head-to-head in the bid to be the fastest over the course.
