SheFest is back for 2017 with a variety of inclusive events as part of the city-wide festival, kicking off on March 6 and running until March 12.

And now SheFest is urging Sheffield woman to come together for the largely-free festival events, to ‘learn, explore, discuss and have fun.’ Activities will include workshops, question and answer sessions with inspiring women, coaching sessions, dance classes, exhibitions and film screenings. There will also be the opportunity for women to try their hand at skateboarding, singing in a choir, exploring healthy lifestyles, and mixing business with some tasty burritos.

International Women’s Day, on March 8, has been celebrated every year since 1911, as the global recognition of social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

A spokesman for the event said: “Despite how far we’ve come, the World Economic Forum estimates gender equality won’t be achieved until 2186.

“New for 2017, we’re also running a series of Lunchtime Learning 45-minute sessions, which are designed to fit into your lunch break, therefore accessible to city workers, students, mums and everyone inbetween.

“From business and branding to wellness and yoga, we hope to inspire and empower you, quicker than the time taken to digest a sandwich!”

Other highlights of the festival include a performance of the Vagina Monologues, at Theatre Deli, a ‘What Now For Parents Returning To Work’ talk from McCanna Coaching, a look at why women make the best scientists, with Dr Melissa Butt, and coaching session on ‘How To Say No’ with Valerie Monti Holland.
