PEOPLE from Sheffield’s diverse cultural communities came together to celebrate Refugee Week.

Sheffield’s Metropolitan Support Trust refugee services marked the week - which runs until Friday - with their annual Celebration of Culture at Weston Park.

More than 200 people took part in the event - descending on the park where they sampled a wide variety of foods, learned how to braid hair and paint henna and browsed stalls hosted by a range of community groups.

Barry Brown, Metropolitan Support Trust community initiatives officer, said: “Our Refugee Week event is about bringing people together and creating a space in which we can share our different experiences and learn more about one another.

“To achieve this we decided to put on a family event which showcased the talent, expertise and achievements of refugees in the UK, via a programme of creative activities throughout the day.”
