Put your hands up for the Owls

HANDS in the air for the Hillsborough ground!

Lucky lads and lasses were given a behind-the-scenes tour when Sheffield Wednesday opened its doors for national Play Day.

Around 2,000 youngsters descended on Hillsborough Park during a day of activities as part of a national campaign.

Staff from the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme were on hand to provide football activities, and the club provided free ground tours for youngsters and their parents. Visitors were able to peek inside the dressing rooms and the media room, where the manager conducts his press conference after games, and walk down the tunnel.

Club spokesman Matt Bray said: "Coaches encouraged kids throughout the day to get involved in football-themed activities and also took Owls fans on ground tours, something many kids were very excited about."

Richard Fowler, area manager for Activity Sheffield, added: "The day was a great success. Parents were delighted with the day and everyone was pleased by the range of activities available."
