Pupils dig in to brighten park

PUPILS from a Barnsley school dug deep when they planted shrub beds in the popular park.

The shrub and bulb planting event with kids from St Helen's Primary School joined forces with Friends of Monk Bretton Park to carry out the work.

The scheme was part of a 12,900 improvement scheme funded by the National Lottery Community Spaces Initiative in conjunction with Groundwork UK.

Friends of Monk Bretton Park have already obtained funds for a children's play area and the clearing of a pond and new footpaths.
