The event was organised by Sheffield Music Hub, which is part of Sheffield Council.

Liz Hawkins, chairman of Home-Start South Yorkshire, said: “I’m so grateful to the children, parents and schools across Sheffield who worked so hard to make the concert such a memorable event. It was brilliant to hear the children sing so tunefully and with such passion.

“The money raised will be used to support vulnerable children and families right across South Yorkshire. Every penny helps parents receive the support they need from one of our wonderful volunteers, giving local children the best possible start in life.”

Louise Jackson, teacher at Westways Primary School, added: “This is the first time we’ve taken part in the Home-Start “Spring Into Singing” concert.

"We are very pleased to support this vital charity. Our children have enjoyed rehearsals and did so well on the day. They made all of us very proud. Thank you very much to Home-Start and the Music Hub for inviting us to take part.”

And the council's cabinet member for children, young people and families Jackie Drayton said: "It’s fantastic that the ‘Spring Into Singing’ event raise so much money for Home-Start, a wonderful organisation that supports families across South Yorkshire.

"We know that singing can boost children’s confidence and self-esteem and makes people feel happy so I’d like to thank the Music Hub, the schools and the children involved and all those who supported the event for making it such a joyous occasion."
