SIXTH-FORMERS in Sheffield will get the chance to battle it out as lawyers in court in a mock trial.
The competition, open to all schools and colleges throughout the region, will give budding lawyers and barristers an insight into the job and the skills they will need.
The event, run by Sheffield Hallam University, hopes to encourage young people to consider a career in law.
Rachel White, pre-enrolment officer at the university, said: “The competition is a fantastic opportunity for young people to gain practical experience of mooting.”
The Inter-School Mock Trial Competition begins with debating heats against other schools at the university before the finalists are chosen.
The final trial will unravel at Sheffield Law Courts, where finalists will be awarded with prizes and certificates.
