EIGHT pubs in Sheffield are turning back the clock two decades - and serving drinks at 1992 prices for a week-long January sale.

The Bankers Draft in Market Place, The Benjamin Huntsman and The Sheffield Waterworks Company in the city centre, The Swim Inn in West Street, The Woodseats Palace in Woodseats, The Rawson Spring in Langsett Road, The Sheaf Island in Ecclesall Road and The Francis Newton in Clarkehouse Road will all be serving a pint of real ale at 1992 prices from today until next Wednesday.

According to the Campaign for Real Ale, the last time an average price of a pint of beer cost £1.29 was in 1992.

Jonathan Atkinson, manager of The Bankers Draft, said: “Given the choice of a trip to the sales at the shops or a sale at The Bankers Draft, I’m sure most people would prefer a visit to the pub!”
