A SHEFFIELD pub quiz team is in the running to scoop a national competition title after winning a regional heat.
The Robin Hood quiz team from the Robin Hood pub, Millhouses, is through to the finals of the Great Ember Quiz.
The annual event is a national contest to find the brainiest pub team in Britain, fronted by broadcaster John Sergeant, in an effort to raise £20,000 for children’s charity Make-A-Wish Foundation UK.
The Robin Hood’ quizzers beat 195 other teams in the region to win their place at the final which takes place on Saturday, May 26.
They will compete against nine other teams for the first prize of £4,000.
Wesley Hewitson, Robin Hood manager, said: “We’re delighted one of the quiz teams from our pub has been announced as a regional winner. Out of 195 teams, it’s a real accolade to get this far, so we’re all very proud of them.”
Team member Stuart Field said: “We couldn’t believe we’d got through to the regional finals, let alone be winners.
“We’re all excited. We’ve had a lot of fun taking part in the quiz, and we’d like to thank the pub for hosting such a fantastic contest.”
