Amid all this doom and gloom of costs going through the roof, it was a great morale booster to hear of a royal wedding. Not because I am a royalist, though I think the country needs a monarch now more than ever as bit by bit we are losing our heritage.
No it is because Cameron declared April 29 a public holiday. Hooray, an extra day to spend with my family. But some bosses don't see it that way. The company I work for, Terberg Matec in Worksop, wasted no time issuing a memo advising that they will not recognise it as a bank holiday and it's business as usual: if you require the day off use your holiday. Makes you proud to be British!
