YOUNGSTER Joseph Barker had an exciting time living the life of a civic dignitary as he continued a 22-year tradition to be Rotherham’s Little Mayor for a day.

The nine-year-old, from Kimberworth Park, joined grown-up mayor Coun Dave Pickering to visit three locations.

He also donned official robes and performed duties including signing official documents.

A lunch was held in the Roughwood School pupil’s honour.

His visits included calling in at Performance Engineer Solutions, at the Advanced Manufacturing Park Technology Centre, Catcliffe.

The company has nearly two decades of experience working in motorsport, Olympic sport, aerospace, automotive, medical, product design and renewable energy technologies.

Joseph also visited the New York Stadium and inspected Rotherham’s new main library at the Riverside development.

Before starting the day, Joseph said: “I feel very lucky and excited to be Little Mayor for the day. I’m most looking forward to going to the New York Stadium and going to the Advance Manufacturing Park.”

Coun Pickering said: “I was extremely pleased to welcome Joseph to the Town Hall and show him what an incredible honour it is to be the Mayor of Rotherham.”
