A CHESTERFIELD pub has had its licence revoked following reports of assaults, underage drinking and drunk and disorderly behaviour on the premises.
Chesterfield Council’s licensing committee heard there were 25 incidents at the Sun Inn on West Bars between July last year and February.
The council’s health and safety officers and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service both also raised concerns about asbestos, wiring, electrical installations and fire safety.
Derbyshire Police had called for the licence review in January, when the licence holder was Ann Sleigh. Just before the hearing Marston’s plc put in an application to transfer the licence into its name.
The firm has also started action to remove Mrs Sleigh from the premises.
Members said there was an “overwhelming amount of unchallenged evidence which showed that the pub had failed to prevent crime and disorder, stop public nuisance, ensure public safety and protect children from harm”.
Marston’s was given 21 days to challenge the decision.
