SPORTS fans who applied for tickets for next year’s London 2012 Olympics have been told their payments should be taken by next week.
The London 2012 ticketing team emailed applicants to tell them the majority of payments would be taken by May 31.
Anyone who bid for a ticket was told payment would be taken between May 16 and June 10.
That window still applies, meaning it is not clear exactly when cash will debited.
A problem with the system is that applicants don’t know when payment will be taken or how much will be debited, given many events are vastly oversubscribed.
Because of the uncertainty, many people bid for more events than they could realistically afford.
Those who have applied for tickets should keep checking their accounts to ensure they have enough money to cover the cost of all tickets applied for.
If not, they should transfer money from other accounts to cover the cost.
Applicants should speak to their bank or credit card companies to get an extension to their account limits - otherwise they could be hit with hefty charges of up to £40 a time.
