SOUTH Yorkshire’s High Sheriff praised the work of Rotherham’s voluntary sector on a day-long tour.
Julie Kenny CBE visited a host of organisations in the town to see first-hand the good work being carried out in the borough.
The day, organised by Voluntary Action Rotherham, saw her visit Action for Children, United Multicultural Centre and YMCA Whiterose, among others.
She said: “I must make particular mention of those people who give their time on a voluntary basis for no reward, other than knowing they are making a difference.
“These people are the true heroes of our time.”
Janet Wheatley, chief executive of Voluntary Action Rotherham, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase some of the great work that is being done.”
