MAYOR of Doncaster Peter Davies has paid tribute to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s plans to breed tigers at its Branton site.
The first pair of tigers bound for the zoo have already been identified and they are expected to arrive sometime in the spring. A second pair is planned for later.
Mr Davies has welcomed the announcement that ‘Land of the tigers’ will open later this year.
He said: “As a cat lover I am delighted to hear that we will soon be welcoming these endangered Amur tigers to Doncaster.
“The Yorkshire Wildlife park is a fantastic attraction and we are very proud of its continuing success.
“I am pleased that we have been able to support the park through our Invest in Doncaster team.”
