Sheffield Boxing Centre regulars didn’t pull any punches when they fought their way to raising almost £5,000 for local charities.

Members of the centre on Burton Street, Hillsborough, held their seventh annual charity boxing show, which has raised more than £35,000 since its launch.

Boxing coach John McCormack, who trains at the centre run by Glyn Rhodes MBE, said: “Every year we’ve done this has been a sell-out. People who love boxing come to us and we train them up then we have a tournament where they get to have their six minutes of glory. It’s for a great cause and great children.”

The money was split equally between the Children’s Hospital Charity and funds for patients Ben O’Brien, front left, and Ella Frith, front centre.w
