POSTAL voters in the Barnsley Central constituency are being urged to return their ballot papers as soon as possible to ensure they arrive in time to be counted.
The by-election takes place next Thursday, March 3 - and around 11,500 constituents have applied to vote by post.
Acting Returning Officer Andrew Frosdick, said: “It is important that everyone in the Barnsley Central constituency who has asked for a postal vote should complete and return it to us as soon as possible.
“There is less time than usual for people to return their votes and there is a danger that, unless people hurry, they won’t get them back to us in time.
“In order to avoid this people should return their votes as soon as possible. Don’t delay, post today.”
Those who do not receive a ballot pack in the post or aren’t sure how to use it should log onto www.barnsley.gov.uk/electoral-services or call the council’s elections helpline on 01226 773070 for help.
