SOUTH Yorkshire’s largest Women’s Institute group just keeps on getting bigger.

The Seven Hills WI has experienced a 25 per cent surge in membership since last year. With 125 members ranging from the ages of 22 to 55, the branch has now reached full capacity.

BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Paulette Edwards was guest of honour at the first meeting of the year, held at the group’s new city centre venue in Sheaf Street’s Electric Works.

Lindsay Garfitt, president of Seven Hills WI, said: “Moving to our wonderful new venue has enabled us to increase our membership to 125 and we’re thrilled to have welcomed so many new members so early in the year.

“The boost in interest we’ve seen over the past couple of months has been unbelievable and we are only sorry we can’t offer places to everyone who wants to join.”
