Artisan traders looking to kickstart their careers or attract new customers are being encouraged to rent one of The Moor Market’s new vintage-style barrows.
The market is offering the kitsch Victorian-looking mobile stalls to businesses looking for creative ways of showcasing their wares to city centre shoppers.
The five barrows can be rented for £25 a day to new or existing stallholders looking to pitch up in the market foyer and they’ve already had a flurry of bookings from local, independent companies such as Goo-Design, Binx Handmade Soaps and Seven Hills Bakery, who have all had a boost in business as a result.
Richard Eyre, head of city centre management and events at Sheffield Council, said: “We know that new businesses and artisan traders in particular who are looking for an outlet to sell their products can’t always afford to rent a stall or open their own shop so this is a great way for them to test the market and to raise their profile. It’s also a new and inventive pull to The Moor Market for our customers.”
